About...me
The accidental agent
Got into the industry almost by default. The pleasure of discovering something new and indescribably beautiful- like when I chanced on that beautiful bungalow on Chancery with that swanky Manhattan-style bar entertainment area(more on that in the 'uber-modern houses' page is what keeps me going. Helping to find the right tenants for these houses is a wonderful feeling as well-the culmination of a process akin to giving birth(though I have not gone through the latter, but that is what I imagine it to be...).

I work best with houses with a modern outlook-the minimalist Starck, Mies Van der Rohe design(although I do prefer a softer, more compromising approach to blend in with the surroundings rather than the original uncompromising credo that facilitated only industrial materials like steel, concrete and glass).

Also love shophouses and i do know gorgeous shophouses around-predictably in the Emerald Hill and Cairnhill areas but also in outlying areas like Joo Chiat and Petain. An interesting blend of everything from funky boutique hotel interiors and water features that is so typical of the shophouses on Kim Yam to the classy zen approach of the one on Emerald Hill, the quirky and whimsical blend of upbeat modern interiors and a tropical entertainment area on Cairnhill.

Modern tropical and modern Balinese works for me as well. Seen a lot of great design ideas around, not limited to the districts of 9/10/11. The more distant the place, the more satisfying the find- like a place I found in front of a mosque in the East. The neighbourhood is distinctly Malay and has a very warm, community feel about it. Architecture is very traditional and cosy-big families coming over to visit over the weekends or at night after prayers is a common sight. But almost directly in front of the mosque are two distinctly mdoern houses, that just so departs from the feel of the whole neighbourhood. Modern bungalows with water features-of the sort you find in Districts 9/10/11.

A departure from the modern design would be the black and whites which i have come to love as well. My first with a black and white was an empty one on Ridout road which was simply appalling. The tenant had recently vacated the place but premises looked so rundown. My experiences with currently tenanted black and whites(also on Ridout) were distinctly more pleasant- with swimming pools and cabanas, charming patios with the requisite rattan lounge chairs and coffee table books, the shared tennis courts... The Swettenham black and whites are also very pretty. Also places around Polo Club with a huge amount of land area.
